Freelance Photojournalist

Defense for Children International - Palestine is seeking highly creative and reliable freelance photojournalists with a strong knowledge of the region and experience in photographing children.

The selected individual will work closely with DCIP’s documentation and advocacy teams to produce compelling photo essays and header photos for use in human interest or news features, highlighting the rights situation of Palestinian children.

The assignments cover the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Photojournalists from the West Bank and Gaza Strip are encouraged to apply. DCIP offers competitive local rates.

Responsibilities

–Capture and craft compelling visual stories through photographs.
–Ensure all DCIP documentation and reporting needs have been met for each submission.
–Prepare accurate photo captions in keeping with best journalistic practices.
–Quickly establish a high level of rapport with children and families during photo shoots.
–Edit photos to meet print and online formatting needs.
–Contribute to social media posts.

Qualifications

–Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional photography experience.
–Proficiency in English and Arabic strongly preferred. Hebrew a plus.
–Strong social skills to photograph children and families during culturally sensitive or crisis situations.
–Must be able to work under pressure, stress and deadlines
–Must be able to work with a high degree of accuracy
