Ramallah, July 23, 2025—Israeli forces shot and killed a 15-year-old Palestinian boy in the northern occupied West Bank yesterday.

Ibrahim Majed Ali Nasr, 15, was shot and killed by Israeli forces around 8:20 p.m. on July 22 in the Palestinian town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, according to documentation collected by Defense for Children International - Palestine. Ibrahim was allegedly throwing stones at Israeli soldiers during an Israeli military incursion into Qabatiya when he was shot from a distance of about 10 to 15 meters (33 to 49 feet) away, striking him with a bullet in the right side of the chest that exited through the right shoulder.

“Israeli forces regularly carry out attacks and incursions into Palestinian communities throughout the occupied West Bank, killing, arresting, and terrorizing Palestinian children with impunity,” said Ayed Abu Eqtaish, accountability program director at DCIP. “These attacks on Palestinian childhood will not end unless world leaders take firm action to hold Israeli authorities accountable.”

Ibrahim, accompanied by another child, was participating in peaceful clashes near Al-Aqsa Roundabout, close to Al-Hakim Medical Center, located on the town’s main street. According to CCTV footage, the two children fled through the olive trees near the medical center and were pursued by four heavily armed Israeli soldiers, who opened fire on them.

While the other child managed to escape, Ibrahim was injured and left lying on the ground as the soldiers approached and remained near him for about five minutes. A nearby ambulance then arrived and transported him to Jenin Governmental Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 9:15 p.m.

Israeli forces entered Qabatiya around 6 p.m. with four heavily armored military vehicles and deployed in several neighborhoods, targeting Palestinian youth who were throwing stones toward the military vehicles. The forces withdrew from the town at around 9 p.m.

Israeli forces have killed 34 Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank in 2025, according to documentation collected by DCIP.

208 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank since October 7, 2023, according to documentation collected by DCIP.

Under international law, intentional lethal force is only justified in circumstances where a direct threat to life or of serious injury is present. However, investigations and evidence collected by DCIP regularly suggest that Israeli forces use lethal force against Palestinian children in circumstances that may amount to extrajudicial or wilful killings.
